I joined the team at PocketGems as a Principal artist initially trying to establish a new 3D pipeline for this mobile title.
the goal was to create a proper exemplar on translating all the hand drawn backdrops to 3D environments. Over time, as the project got cancelled (as upper management deemed it too costly), my role changed and I was mostly responsible for creating 3D blockouts for environments to be sent to outsourcing for 2D paintovers.
We did all sort of test and ideas to try and incorporate 3D workflow into the pipeline. From full 3D backdrops with stylization to parallax in 2D background.
